Freedom or Ελευθερια

Freedom and Independence are two terms that describe the same thing but with some difference. Sometimes you have freedom to do whatever you want but you are depended on someone.

I’m from Greece, from the country where democracy was born. Democracy is essentially a very big freedom. It gives you the right to express yourself without anyone above of you.

My country has the experience of a lot of disturbances of freedom and of independence.

At the beginning of 15th century the Turks came to Greece and dominated for 400 years. The Greeks were under of them and they hadn’t any freedom. They couldn’t keep their religion and their language. If they resisted, they Turks would kill them and theirs families. However, the Greeks couldn’t afford the Turks’ sovereignty and at the beginning of 19th century the did a revolution in order to gain freedom and their independence.

They succeeded but at 1940 the Gemany and they Italy wanted entered in violent way in Greece. The governon said characteristically “NO” to the Germans and they started a war. After a lot of battles, victims and losses the Greeks won and they had again their freedom.

the traffic lights represent those who say to Greece what it have to do

Today there is a fake freedom and independence in Greece. Our politician doesn’t govern our country in a good way. Their target is to earn money for themselves. Consequally they had to borrow money from the European Union. Borrowing money is one-way solution.

The European countries were giving money to the Greeks but sometime they noticed that the Greeks governons don’t spend for the common good but they used the money for theirs own favors. They understood that is difficult for Greece to give back the money so they decided to have the control of Greece in order to take sometime their money back.

The Greece now havn’t any freedom since the Greece is under of the control of lenders. The greek government is the marionette of the big European powers.

But today the Greeks can’t afford this situation. They want their freedom and their independence so they decide to go out to the routes in order to protest agaist the hard metres that the Europeans impose to Greece.

All the square in every city over all the Greece are full of desperated and be indignant people who demand their rights their freedom and their independence. They have created a movement called “aganaktismenoi’’(indignant).

They hope for one better future with all their rights. A future with freedom. They want to be independed from none.

The young people hope for one better future.
